They applauded her sympathy with the glass, noting her understanding of form and her versatility, and commenting on her understanding of both restraint and exuberance in design.
Of her piece ‘Wisteria’ (2024) the assessors remarked on how intriguing and beautifully engraved the figure is, as well as the way the wisteria had been used around the vase.
Rosie, from Scotland, was delighted to be elected as an Associate Fellow, describing it as ‘a dream come true’. The assessors commented on how her imagery was accurately rendered, with thought given to details and relationships of positive and negative. They liked that she had considered images through all sides of the vessels, exploiting the transparency of the glass, and noted that storytelling is emerging as a real strength.
They commented on how well engraved ‘The eagle has landed’ (2022) is, and observed that it works well as an image on the shape of the vessel.
Lilian is a committed member of the Northern Branch. The assessors noted that her work showed a good range of ideas and varied designs, as well as clear evidence of experimentation with textures.
They particularly liked the ‘Ugly Duckling’ plate (2025), commenting that it shows originality in the treatment of the subject and its relation to the object.
Peter is an overseas member and is based in Australia. The assessors commented on his draughtsmanship and on his good use of shading and line work, as well as the thought given to how the engraving would suit the shape of the vessels.
Of his ‘Peace Poppy Bowl’ (2025) they noted that the looser engraving style of the barbed wire detail contrasts well with the softer engraving on the petals.
Neil described his response to his election as ‘excited and honoured’ and particularly wanted to thank other members of the Guild who had given him tips in the past. The assessors noted that Neil had created his own style of smooth texture and lines, and commented on his skills of observation and clear ideas around the subjects.
They liked the personal link to the ‘Red Panda vase’ (2024) feeling that it added an original touch, and applauded the drama of the animal’s gaze.
