About Katharine Coleman

Katharine Coleman was born in 1949 in Sutton Coldfield, UK and trained in glass engraving at Morley College in London 1984-7 with Peter Dreiser. She has been a Guild member for many years. Technically skilled, Katharine works on clear lead crystal with colour overlays, blown to her design by Potter Morgan Glass. She is particularly interested in copper wheel engraving on glass, which was put on the Red List of endangered crafts by the Heritage Crafts Association in 2021 and teaches engraving in Germany and the USA. Recognised by the wider glass community, with work in many international museum collections, including the V&A and Corning (USA), she received an MBE for services glass engraving in 2009 and has won several prizes, including a Hon Mention Prize in the 2006 Coburger Glaspreis and the People’s Prize in the British Biennale 2015
