I first started engraving some years ago when my mum gave me a starter engraving kit from Woolworths. However, I didn't really start engraving until 2 years ago. I then upgraded to an engraver with speed control. After this I upgraded to a dremel 4000 with a flexi shaft. This had to much vibration, after talking to Leslie Pike she recommended a Micromotor. I then bought a marathon n8 Micromotor and a dremel micro for cordless work. I have started using different tips for different shading effects and adding water for smoothing. I have also recently bought a magnifying headset. I am reading books on drawing and engraving techniques but have much to learn.
I now have moved to a pneumatic 70k engraver, I miss the quick release of the micromotor and the compressor is noisier but much smoother.
