Rob Page

Rob teaches drill engraving at Durlston Country Park, near  Swanage. The courses are 90 minute sessions especially for beginners.

West Dean College of Arts and Conservation

Tracey Sheppard runs courses at West Dean. Explore the various glass engraving techniques and learn to experiment with a variety of tools. Suitable for beginners and intermediates. This course is a short weekend 10am-5pm on Saturday and 9am-4pm on Sunday. Experiment with drawing or lettering on glass as you are introduced to the techniques of drill and hand engraving. The Royal Danish Academy, School of Design’s Craft Programme

Glass and Ceramics on Bornholm is built around one of Europe’s small, but  leading educational environments in the fields of glass and ceramics. The programme takes place in the school at Nexø on the island of Bornholm.

The glass workshop contains kilns for processing hot glass, sanding, wax/Gelflex space for the processing of moulding materials, window glass and engraving, while the two workshops share plaster rooms and a small wood assistance workshop and photographic facilities.

Glasfachschule Zwiesel, Germany

The glass engraving courses aim to encourage high concentration as well as drawing talent and a steady hand. These are talents required by the glass engraver. With small grinding wheels on the engraving machine or with the flexible shaft, they develop fine emblems, fonts, coats of arms, ornamentst, structures and figures and illustrations graphically or plastically in flat glass or hollow glass. Exact replicas or the implementation of own designs characterize the daily work of the engraver.

Arena Crystal, Ireland

Greg Sullivan teaches Copper Wheel Engraving, which is what he served his apprenticeship in with Masters in Waterford Crystal. It is a unique craft where you use small wheels and an abrasive to carve imagery into the surface of the glass. He offers an on-line course in addition to the on-location course in Waterford.

Vanessa Cavallaro, Altare, Italy

A glass will be used on which to do the etching, at the end of the course it will be given as a memento. The course includes the practice of making a drawing with a marker on the glass and then engraving a flower with leaves in the Altarese  tradition. Suitable for everyone 14 years and older.

Czech School of Glass, Kamenicky Senov

The school of glass making was founded in Kamenicky Senov in 1856 and it is the oldest one at this branch.

Whilst studying glass decorating, students use their knowledge of drawing and modelling to learn glass engraving. They learn to engrave with copper, stone and diamond.

In 2014, Pavlina Cambalova was asked by her fellow artists to lead the Dominik Biman School, which was founded and led by Jiri Harcuba during his lifetime. The former Dominik Biman School continues in memory of its founder, under her leadership and the name Jiri Harcuba School. Like its predecessor, it is held once a year, always in a different place.
