Does anything ever happen in the NW London area? I have one or two people interested in glass engraving, but nowhere to learn that is not miles away. Perhaps the London branch could come up with one or two venues ?

Morley College nea Waterloo is great.
The classes this September will be on Monday mornings - check Morley website for the time - I will be going.
Also, the London & S East England Branch has very worthwhile Saturday workdays, starting later in the autumn, at Oakwood near Cockfosters - see the Branch details.
