The Coburg Prize for Contemporary Glass 2014 (Coburger Glaspreis 2014)

The “Kunstsammlungen der Veste Coburg” are organizing the Coburg Prize for Contemporary Glass 2014.

The competition is open to artists born in Europe or artists living in Europe who work with glass.

Submissions may be made by professional artists in the form of vessels, sculptures, objects, installations or stained glass.

All the art works must have been made in 2012 or 2013.

The art works must be one-off pieces.

Functional glass and designs for industry are not permitted.

The exhibition will be shown from April 13th till September 14th 2014 at the Veste Coburg and at the European Museum of Modern Glass in nearby Rödental.

The prize ceremony will be on Saturday 12th April 2014 (the 1st Prize is € 15.000, the 2nd Prize € 10.000 and the 3rd Prize € 5.000; Special Prizes are € 2.000).

Glass Engraving Courses at the 2013 Summer Academy, Bild-Werk Frauenau, Germany
There are so few courses available in Europe in glass engraving, especially wheel engraving. Here is your one chance this year to learn, unless you come to Corning, USA! The courses are long enough to really get a chance to experience the technique and make progress, all tutors speak English. Of particular interest will be the course led by Alison Kinnaird, superb artist and inspiring teacher.
